Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has strongly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership, accusing them of engaging in a politics rooted in violence.

Responding to a statement by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Tarar claimed that PTI’s protests have consistently lacked peace and order.

Labeling PTI as “Tehreek-e-Intishaar” (Movement for Disorder), the Minister alleged that during their previous protest, participants armed with modern weapons, including sten guns, tear gas shells, and grenades, stormed the federal capital and engaged in unprovoked firing.

He described May 9 and November 26 as some of the darkest days in Pakistan’s history, citing the violent actions of PTI supporters. Tarar also mentioned that Gandapur’s guards were seen firing shots, accusing PTI of attempting to politicize tragedy and pursue unrest.

He further criticized PTI for prioritizing political gain over the country’s stability, adding that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have already rejected PTI’s protest calls and will likely dismiss any future attempts at disruption.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has revealed that Pakistan incurs a massive daily loss of Rs190 billion due to road closures and shutdowns caused by opposition-led protests.

The minister’s remarks come as the opposition party, led by PTI founder Imran Khan, marches towards Islamabad’s D-Chowk for a “do-or-die” protest. The demonstration aims to oppose Khan’s “illegal” detention, the arrest of party leaders and workers, the “stolen mandate” in the February 8 general elections, and the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

In an interview with a local TV channel, Aurangzeb explained that the protests negatively impact tax collection and exports, disrupting businesses nationwide. He added that maintaining security during these demonstrations also incurs additional expenses.

“The IT and tech sector has suffered significant losses due to these disruptions,” the finance minister noted. He further shared that the Ministry of Finance has compiled a report estimating the GDP loses approximately Rs144 billion daily as a result of the protests.
